The Old Dominion Dental Society, Inc was founded in 1913 as a forum for minority dentists who were (at the time) denied membership in the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Virginia Dental Association. This society has represented the hopes and aspirations of the African-American dentist in Virginia for more than 90 years. The organization provided scholarships annually for minority dental students throughout the state. In addition to the scholarships, the Old Dominion dental Society members donate their time and expertise for a number of state and community service organizations.
